Dan ran a well-known landscaping firm, but his business struggled with low engagement on social media, as his posts rarely generated any comments and his organic reach was minimal. One Christmas, after completing all their work for the year, Dan volunteered to collaborate with a local children's charity and build a surprise garden for a local family with a child who has disabilities. He approached Brass Bee Marketing to see if they would donate their time to help share updates about the garden's progress on his social media profiles, which we were delighted to accept. Dan reached out to his industry contacts to request donations of materials, and soon, hundreds of businesses joined the effort, contributing everything from garden furniture and play equipment to plants and paving stones. Work on the garden began and every day, more and more landscaping firms and garden designers came to volunteer their time and help transform the space.

Dan shared live Instagram videos from the construction site each day, while we worked behind the scenes to provide further updates and highlight the contributions from others involved. A week before Christmas, the family was presented with a beautiful, wheelchair-accessible garden that their son could safely use and play in. It was a wonderfully rewarding project for everyone involved.

While Dan’s only intention was to give back to a family in need at the end of a busy year, he was thrilled to see their social media followers interacting with their content.​​ This is a fantastic example of how you can increase your engagement and your connection with your followers by actually doing something worthy of their attention.
